A nineteen year old Kayaye girl Tuesday [25th July] met her untimely death after been crushed by bags of rice at a Shop at Adum, Kumasi.

The young lady whose name has only been given as Rahina was a Kayaye turned shop attendant at one of the shops at Adum around the Prison yard.

One of the care takers of the Kayayes at Goroo [where the deceased resided] in the Subin Constituency, Mr Ahmed narrated the incident to Kapital News’ Ekelima  Hamidu saying, “It’s true, I was informed about it around 3:30 to 4:pm [Tuesday] that we have lost one of our sisters.”

He said it was narrated to him that, “some one came to buy a bag of rice at the shop and she [the deceased] was asked to go and bring it but unfortunately all the bags fell on her.”

He further said she was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital according to narration he got from owners of the shop.

The deceased, a mother of one unfortunately died at the hospital.

Mr. Ahmed confided in Ekelima Hamidu that he senses foul play because “how come when she went inside and never came out with the bag of rice, nobody realised it?”

“So what happened to the customer who was waiting for her bag of rice, is it not strange that you send someone to bring something and the person doesn’t come out and you dont follow up to see what has happened?” He further questioned.

The story gets murkier as some of the Kayayes who shared their sadness and confusion over the incident revealed that it was not isolated as a similar incident has happened before in the same shop.

Meanwhile the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Morgue and an official report has been filed with the Komfo Anokye Police.
