Tomorrow Thursday November 24, 2016 is exactly a week the Asantehemaa and mother of Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, joined her ancestors.

A ceremony will be held at the Manhyia Palace tomorrow morning to mark the One Week observation of the late Asantehemaa.

Several dignitaries including traditional rulers from far and near, government officials, among others are expected to witness the one week observation of the great queen.

Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II was installed queen mother in 1977 as the 13th queen mother and first reigned with the Otumfour Opoku Ware II from 1970 till his demise in 1999.

The queen of Ashanti kingdom died at age of 111, after reigning for 39 years and tomorrow Thursday November 24, 2016 is the one week observation.

There were earlier reports that the Kumasi Traditional Council has ordered for the closure of stalls and commercial centers within the Central Business District until the end of the One Week observation, but  the Manhyia Palace has debunked those rumours.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Traditional Council has announced a ban on noise making and drumming in the region until after the funeral of the Asantehemaa.
