BoG organizes regional course on economic and financial report for staff

The Bank of Ghana today hosted the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) in a course to give deeper knowledge and understanding in Economic and Financial Report Writing Skills and Presentation Techniques to people with economic and financial expertise some staff of the Bank of Ghana.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Head of Center for Training and Professional Development, BoG, Mr. Emmanuel Quao said that successful report writing requires: professionalism, in-depth knowledge of the subject discussed, concentration, and exceptional writing skills.

Mr. Emmanuel Quao admonished that a good writing but poorly presented report might send the wrong signal to the audience, the people into economic and finance must be abreast with all the skills and techniques in report writing and presentation hence the organization of this regional course on economic and finance report writing skills and presentation techniques to help participants gain in-depth knowledge and understanding.

He concluded in believing that the course would shed the importance and requirements of communication in today’s business environment by the team of tested, experienced professional assembled by WAIFEM to facilitate the course.

On behalf of the director general of WAIFEM Professor Akpan H. Ekpo, Mr. Paul Mendy giving a brief background of WAIFEM said it was established in the year 1996 July 22 by the Banks of Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone to strengthen capacity on a sustainable basis for macroeconomic, debt and financial sector management in the countries of member banks.

The course package included: Communication process, grammar in writing, style in writing, features of technical reports, guidelines/format for preparing financial and economic reports, data handling and analysis in technical reports, computer applications in report writing, minutes writing, report writing practices and techniques and skills of report presentation.

Mr. Paul Mendy entreated all participants to ensure that they derive maximum benefit from the course.
