C’cil of State Elections: Otumfuo’s Mawerehene crushed by Akrofosohene

Akrofosohene, Nana Owusu Owusu Achiaw Brempong has emerged winner as the Ashanti Regional representative of the Council of State after beating Otumfuo’s Mawerehene, Baffour Hyeman Brentuo VI and a former regional chairman of the NPP, Robert Owusu Amankwah.

The 63-year old farmer and a registered professional nurse polled 45 votes out of the 60 valid votes cast.

Baffour Brentuo polled 5 votes while Mr Owusu Amankwah also polled 10 out of the valid votes cast.

16 candidates contested for the elections and five of them step down with some few minutes to the start of polls.

Nana Brempong, speaking after he was declared winner of the election also pledged to support Government’s policies especially the One District one factory and the One Village one Dam.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Ashanti Regional representative of the Council of State has pledged to bring his expertise on board as a farmer to help Government improve Ghana’s Agricultural sector.

“As we speak now I have started the one village one dam in my farm at my own cost not at the cost of the government so I am very eager to help Nana Addo.”

Mawerehene congratulated the winner and has pledged to give him the necessary support.
