Ensure judicious use of resources- Asokore Mampong MCE charges stakeholders

Chief Executive of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly has charged departmental heads, staff members and other stakeholders to ensure judicious use of the Assembly’s resources.

Alhaji Alidu Seidu admitted that, although the Assembly was constrained in terms of resources and logistics, a lot could still be done to bring the needed productivity to all units and departments.

The MCE made the remarks at a ceremony to officially introduce himself to the entire staff members of the Assembly as the new Chief Executive.

He indicated that the Assembly cannot afford to spend beyond its limited resources and it behoves every member to work hard towards expanding logistics and resources that will go a long way to benefit the Assembly.

“It can happen. You are not in the best of situations in terms of logistical constraints, office space and all that. But let’s make good use of what we have now, we will improve. I told them yesterday that if we are able to generate more, it will be there for us to use. You cannot use of spend more than your purchasing power. When it is there you work for it”.

He called on all stakeholders to put in their best to enable them maintain their position as the best performing Assembly in the country.

The Assembly, one of the new assemblies, scored the highest marks and indeed was the only one to exceed its targets out of the 216 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country in a performance contract signed in 2014 by the Local Government Services.

For its reward, the assembly was presented with two return tickets to South Africa, three desktop computers, a plaque and a citation.

Alhaji Seidu emphasized that there was the need for all to be united and discharge their duties genuinely irrespective of their political affiliations.

He said the focus of every member must be to improve their performance to ensure the Assembly achieves efficient productivity.

He assured the members of a good and cordial working relationship and also pledged to be a leader who will not lord his powers over his subordinates.

The MCE called on members of the Assembly to disregard reports that, he has enlisted names of workers who will be transferred upon his assumption of office as the MCE.

He said he is not a leader for a particular group of persons since he was appointed by the President serve the entire municipality.

He also stressed on the need for departmental heads and their subordinates to allow the systems and structures of the Assembly to work.

For him, productivity could only be efficient and effective if the systems and structures are made to work.
