“…so even if we in the Ashanti Region have not been to school, cant we be opening doors for cars at the Flag Staff house?”, that was a question raised by a member of the aggrieved Communication Team of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region.

According to Wofa Anokye, their “counterparts in Accra have been appointed to the National Security and Flag staff house to work there” and if the leadership so wishes could do same for them.

The aggrieved communicators have suspended all activities with immediate effect for been neglected by party leadership.

The team which consists of radio/TV communicators, Serial callers and Social media communicators say their action was necessitated by the gross disrespect and disregard of their contributions and sacrifices for the party by the party leadership, both National and Regional.

Wofa Anokye who spoke to Michael Essel Mills on the 29th March edition of Daybreak Kapital lamented the situation where a communicator can move to and from ‘Pankrono’ in the Kwabre District and the Kumasi Metropolis “on foot for a radio program all for the love of the party, only for us to be neglected by the party after the election.”

He said after both the 2008 and the 2012 election, Party leadership called, congratulated and implored them not to abandon the party but to work hard to bring it back into power, saying, the situation is different this time around because no one had called them to even say congratulate them for their hard work three months after winning elections.

They indicated in a statement they released that until their grievances are addressed they will not call of the suspension.

Meanwhile the Communication Directorate, has called on the members to get to work while leadership works to solve their problems.

In a statement signed by Director of Communication, Dr. Kwesi Kyei, the leadership called on the aggrieved members to exercise restraint while their grievances are addressed.
