Luck however eluded them as Alijumah, Musah, Kofi Azumah, and Issaka Abubakar and they were arrested by the police, but suspect Ali managed to escape.

Briefing the press on June 21, 2017, deputy Ashanti regional police commander, ACP Ampofo Duku indicated that an immediate search conducted on them at the scene revealed eighteen (18) mobile phones, and an amount of Eight Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixteen Ghana Cedis (GHC. 8,716).

One of the suspects he said, Ibrahim Mahammudu alias Aliujumah, leader of the group led the Police to retrieve two (2) single barrel guns, one locally made pistol and twenty (20) live BB cartridges which were hidden in a bush.

He further said, suspect Ibrahim Mahammudu mentioned suspect Osman as the supplier of the weapon and also led the Police to his residence at Atimatim Taabuom where Seidu was also arrested.

“Police also retrieved one (1) locally made pistol and two (2) live BB cartridges when a search was conducted at the residence of Osman.  Suspect Osman also led police to Ali Sariki, a bicycle dealer at Alabar, in Kumasi as the person who supplies him with the AK 47 assault rifles and other weapons to be given to the Fulani armed robbers to embark on their robbery expeditions. He later led Police to arrest suspect Sariki at his residence.”

ACP Duku added that all the suspects have confessed that suspect Sariki supplies the weapons and ammunition to Osman who then hands the weapons over to them for their robbery expedition.

The Fulani robbers also mentioned that suspect Osman conveys them in a taxi cab to their robbery scenes and later return to pick them after they finish with their operations. Some of the victims of the highway robbers have come to the Police Command to identify all the four (4) Fulani suspects namely Ibrahim Mahammudu, Issaka Abubakar, Issaka Hamidu, alias Musah, alias Alijumah.

The Ashanti regional police command has meanwhile announced a bounty for anyone who provides information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect at large.
