GRA calls for partnership with the Media

The Medium and Small Tax Office of the Domestic Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority in Kumasi has urged the media to partner with the Authority to educate the public on the need to pay their taxes to the State.

Addressing a gathering at a press soiree organized last Friday at Golden Tulip, the Chief Revenue Officer of the Domestic Tax Division Mr. Isaac Kofi Quaye described the media as its partners for tax development in the country.

Speaking to Kapital News on the sideline of the event, he called on the media to propagate the importance of tax payment to help them generate more for the development of the country.

“The media should help with the education for the public to realize the merit behind the payment,” he called.

Mr. Isaac Kofi Quaye said the soiree is to interact with the media and strengthen the existing fraternity.

“The soiree is to get an interaction with the media as you are out partners for development,” he mentioned.

The Chief Revenue Officer stressed on the need for the media to educate the public on the benefits of paying taxes to aid expands voluntary compliance from the public.

“Tax education is critical to voluntary compliance from the public and this will take effect when payees understand the importance of paying which the media can only achieve that,” he explained.

He said honouring tax obligations would help to mobilize sufficient revenue for the national pool to hasten national development.
