Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister, may be hauled before Parliament’s Defense and Interior Committee if it becomes necessary.

That is according to Chairman of the Committee, Major Derek Oduro. He says the security agencies have begun series of investigations into the matter and will need enough time to get to the bottom of the matter.

Alhaji Inusah Fuseini admitted installing a bugging device at the time he was occupying the office.

This was after the Bureau of National Investigation discovered and retrieved from the office of his successor, John Peter Amewu. Alhaji Fuseini maintained that the device was not meant to spy Mr Amewu.

The device, a recorder which can pick low volume sounds about 30 metres away with a data storage unit and a transmitting unit, was pinned to the back of the Coat of Arms hanging in the Minister’s office.

Speaking on Daybreak Kapital, Major Oduro  indicated that the committee will come in when the need arises.

“If it becomes necessary for us to call him, we’ll do it but for now we want the natural security to take it up because  that is their responsibility.” He told Korsi Asiseh, Host of the show.

“For Parliamentary Select Committee, Defense and Interior, we have not started any investigations .., but if it becomes necessary and consensus comes up to say that we should call him before the committee, I think we’ll do” Major Oduro who is also the Deputy Defence Minister added.

He meanwhile suggested that successive Governments should consider making the clearing of public offices a policy when there is a change of political power.

“We have to make a policy for all offices to be cleared otherwise people will take it for granted and not do anything. People are caught unawares.., we’ve been hearing these recorded tapes all over in public domain about VIPs and that is why we are saying that you must be careful in what you do.”
