Janet Amponsah Crushes Out Of World Athletics Championship

Ghana’s last hope of progressing in the on going World Athletes Championship was dashed on Tuesday night when 200m runner Janet Amponsah who competed in heat 5 failed to progress.

The 2016  African silver medalist who boast a personal best of 22.90s  could not even match that as she came fourth with a time of 23.77s.

Dina Asher Smith of Great Britain came first with a time of 22.73s, while Crystal Emmanuel of Canada came second with a time of 22.87.

In heat 6 100m silver medalist and Cote de Ivoire’s Marie Jose Talou won the race with a time of 22.70s.

Dafne Schippers, Kimberly Duncan,Deajah Stevens all won their respctive heats.

Already Alex Amankwaah (800m), Emmnauel Dasor (400m),Nadia Ekeh (Tripple Jump) have all failed to qualify in their respective race.

Janet’s last competition before the World Athletics championship was 27th May,2017 at the NCAA East Regional Championship three moths before the world event and blames are inability to adequately prepare on Visa frustrations.
