A baby who was said to be missing at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has been identified.

According to Solomon Boakye Ansah, a motor mechanic and father of the baby, his wife Abigail Opoku was referred from the Asoufia Health Center to deliver at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital on Friday.

He says they were told by nurses on duty that a family member had signed in the death book and had taken away the baby.

The response alarmed the family who had to mount pressure on hospital officials to search for the body.

The body was however identified in the midst of hospital officials and the family.

Acting Head at the Child Department of the hospital says the incident was as a result of a clinical error when the documentation was done.

Professor Sampson Antwi narrated that another mother who gave birth on that same day thumb printed at the portion meant for Madam Opoku.

Professor Antwi says authorities had detained the staff who caused the blunder from going home after she had close officially form work.

He says that was to serve as a punishment to ensure nurses took their time when taking details of patients in order not to cause errors.

Hospital officials will summon  a crunch meeting on Monday to reiterate to staff how they should ensure proper documentation of patients are taken.

The family has since apologized to the hospital for being  quick to go to the media when the issue happened.
