Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Monday gave an indication of defending the GHALCA G6 trophy with a 3-0 thumping over 2016 FA Cup champions Bechem United.

Before this game, Kotoko were leading in the head to head with 6 wins, a draw and one defeat.
The match which was the second of the tournament saw the Kumasi based side get an early lead after winger Emmanuel Gyamfi connected with a half volley from a Frank Sarfo Gyamfi cross one that Goalkeeper for Bechem United, Osei Lawrence was clueless to prevent from  entering the net.
Both sides had some decent chances in the first 45 minutes but it was Kotoko’s loan goal that separated both sides at half time.

Bechem United came from the recess with the first substitution in the game as Abednego Tetteh replaced former Okwawu United’s playmaker Akoto Danso while Dauda Mohammed also came on for Kwame Boateng fo Kotoko.

Bechem United’s substitution didn’t prove much of a worry for Kotoko as Obed Owusu got a second goal from a powerful header for the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko made two other substitutions that saw former Hearts of Lions player Isaac Quansah coming on for Obed Owusu and Alex Acheampong substituting Frank Sarfo Gyamfi.
Bechem United made another substitution that saw Osei Bonsu replacing Yao Abotsi.

Kotoko dominated most parts of the game and had five of their players (Amos Frimpong, Conne Jean Marcillin, Edwin Tuffour Frimpong, Eric Donkor and Dauda Mohammed) been shown yellow cards.

In the quest to defend their trophy, Kotoko had a third goal from the spot kick after Alfred Nelson brought down Dauda Mohammed in the 18 yard box.

The captain of the side, Amos Frimpong who was known for his conversion of spot kicks in the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League carefully chipped in a goal to claim a comfortable win on the day.
Ahmed Toure on a couple of occasion, missed goal scoring opportunities and it could have been four for Kotoko had it not been the crossbar that denied a 25 yard shot from Prince Acquah.

Emmanuel Gyamfi was adjudged the man of the match award and the porcupine warriors will next take on Medeama SC on Sunday, 20th of November while Bechem United takes on the Tarkwa based side on Thursday, 17th November at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
