Kumasi traders are cashing in on the sale of umbrellas as the rains have set in. Umbrella vendors are battling with seasonal traders over the sale of umbrellas. This is because some seasonal traders have switched to the business because of the season making the umbrella business a very competitive one.

Prices of umbrellas have risen as is expected in such season with one possibly going for 35ghc. A small umbrella is now sold at 7ghc with other sizes ranging from 12 to 35ghc.

Speaking to one of the vendors, she said “business is not bad. They do buy them especially when it is raining. So our business booms whenever it rains”.

Another trader indicated the umbrella business was only lucrative during the rainy season since according to her, Ghanaians are not fun of using umbrellas during the hot season.

Meanwhile a person who was caught up purchasing an umbrella disclosed to Kapital New’s Queen Georgina Monney that she preferred using an umbrella to raincoat since according to her it was much more protective.
