Over 20 students of the Kumasi Technical Institute are responding to treatment after police officers opened fire on them in a clash.

The officers, who were called in to ward off the jubilant students who were said to have blocked portions of the Amakom-WAEC road when they were returning from the Baba Yara sports stadium after the Inter schools competition, fired gunshots and tear gas when the students resisted and pelted stones at them.

The angry officers stormed the school’s dormitories, allegedly vandalized windows and doors and manhandled any student who came their way.

An unknown number of the students have also been arrested by the police.

Some parents who heard the news, rushed to the school to check on the wards.

School authorities and parents have condemned the actions of the police.

Some of the injured are receiving treatment at the Anwiam clinic at Afful-Nkwanta
