The free SHS policy was used during campaigns by the NPP during the country’s 2012 general elections and the policy was prior to the 2016 general elections reiterated.

The NPP after capturing power from the NDC in the 2016 elections affirmed the party’s resolve to enforce the policy of which  was featured in the President, Nana Akufo Addo’s first state of the  nation’s address as well as in the maiden budget of the party  delivered by the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta Thursday.

The MP for Bongo said the ruling government was not serious with the policy and has therefore referred to it as a scam.

“For them to tell us SHS is free only for us to know that only first years are going to benefit, the policy is a scam” he yelled.
