The use of Smart phones and other related gadgets can be good and deadly as well.

Using the social media and taking selfies can be fun, but if care is not taken can be very dangerous.

Information gathered regarding taking selfie without caution is gradually becoming rampant as far as the youth in Ghana especially those in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi are concerned.

Several of them have been subjected to severe injuries and even death resulting from careless use of smart phones.

In an interview with Dr. Ernest  Kwarko, a public interest advocate and a senior medical officer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) indicated that some of the dangers associated with the use of  social media in a careless manner  ”there are some cases that they are recording now which  are as a result of the use of android devices  and smart phones as they go by their daily activities.

He also described a practice where knocked downs occur as a result of people  crossing the road while charting on whatsapp as bad.

He added that “it is absolutely crazy and must be discouraged right from the onset” he went on to advice drivers on the need to refrain from such careless act especially when driving.

Dr. Kwarko charged the police to be extra vigilant to protect the people and ensure that lives are not lost anyhow.

“Plan your journey and start off early, don’t drive late in the night, do not take alcohol, stay alive and enjoy your Christmas”,he advised  the general public.
